Information for students seeking admission to ��Ĵ�ý who have special considerations.

Thanks for your interest in ��Ĵ�ý. If you're a high school senior, were homeschooled, are a senior citizen, or have studied at ��Ĵ�ý before, check out these special considerations.

Concurrent Enrollment with High School

If you are currently attending a U.S. regionally accredited or state-approved high school, you can take up to 7 credits per semester at ��Ĵ�ý while seeking your high school diploma. You must be at least 13 years old to apply to ��Ĵ�ý. To be considered for concurrent enrollment, you must provide all of the following documentation to demonstrate college readiness:

Written permission from an appropriate official at your high school (such as a guidance counselor or a principal)
A high school transcript or documentation of homeschooling or attendance at an alternative high school

��Ĵ�ý will review this documentation and determine if you can be provisionally admitted. For more details, contact an admissions advisor at least one month before you plan to enroll.

Dual Enrollment in ��Ĵ�ý Undergraduate & Graduate Programs

Generally, students are not eligible to enroll in courses outside of their degree programs. However, if ��Ĵ�ý has developed an articulation agreement between both a graduate and undergraduate program, specific courses may apply to both degree programs. In such cases, you are eligible to cross enroll and will be charged the undergraduate rate for undergraduate courses and the graduate rate for graduate courses.

Students from Other University System of Maryland Institutions

If you are admitted to another University System of Maryland institution and wish to transfer to ��Ĵ�ý, you must first withdraw from your home institution. Then, submit a and pay the nonrefundable application fee.

Undergraduate Students

If you are enrolled in another USM institution (whether or not you are seeking a degree) but want to take undergraduate courses, you should submit a Permission to Enroll form from your department authorized to supply this document at your home institution. If you are applying to ��Ĵ�ý with a Permission to Enroll form for the first time, you will also need to submit a Supplemental Information Form for Students Attending ��Ĵ�ý with Permission to Enroll.

It is your responsibility to secure approval from your home institution. Refunds will not be considered in cases where approval is not granted after registration at ��Ĵ�ý. Your home institution will determine all transferability of academic work completed at ��Ĵ�ý. Students who are admitted to another USM institution and who do not wish to transfer to ��Ĵ�ý do not have to submit an application.

Graduate Students

If you are enrolled in another USM institution (whether or not you are seeking a degree) and want to take graduate courses, you will need to submit an Inter-Institutional Enrollment form authorized by the Office of the Registrar at your home institution.

Homeschooled Students

��Ĵ�ý welcomes homeschooled applicants. All homeschooled students must demonstrate compliance with state and local education regulations. For Maryland students, the home instruction program must comply with the General Regulations of Maryland’s State Board of Education (13A.10.01).

In addition to a completed application for admission, please submit the following required documents:

Transcript, which includes grades, cumulative GPA, and date degree awarded
Brief outline describing course content and instructional materials
Information on the homeschooling regulations of the state where you were educated

The following optional documents can be submitted in addition to the above required documents to assist in the admissions decision:

Any nationally standardized test scores available (for example, SAT®¹ or ACT scores)
Letters of recommendation (professional and/or academic) Please send these documents to admissions@umgc.edu with the subject line "Homeschooled Applicant." If the admissions department deems that the requirement above is not met, GED scores may be requested.

Senior Citizens (Golden ID Program)

During late registration, participants in the Golden Identification, also known as Golden ID, program can register for up to 7 credits each semester without paying tuition, if space allows. The late registration fee is waived, but you must pay any other fees.

To qualify, you must meet the following requirements.

Be a resident of Maryland
Be a U.S. citizen or a legal permanent resident
Be 60 years old by the beginning date of the semester for which you are applying
Not be employed more than 20 hours a week
Meet all requirements for admission
