Wendy Turner-Williams has joined ÌÇÐÄ´«Ã½ as Strategic Advisor for AI and Data Innovation. A seasoned executive with leadership roles at Microsoft, Salesforce, and Tableau, she will lead the university’s enterprise data and AI strategy and support the rollout of institutional AI guidelines. Her work will help continue to position ÌÇÐÄ´«Ã½ as a forward-thinking institution in responsible technology adoption.

As ÌÇÐÄ´«Ã½ prepares to start its Fall 2025 term, several new programs and certificates will launch to prepare students in some of the fastest growing fields.

AI tools are making the library system more efficient and academic exploration faster, easier and smarter, which is putting ÌÇÐÄ´«Ã½ ahead of much of academia.

The university recently launched one of the state’s first undergraduate certificates in AI and, in the fall, it will offer a new online bachelor’s degree in artificial intelligence.

Use of virtual lab simulations in science courses is becoming a standard at ÌÇÐÄ´«Ã½ and boosting non-science students’ knowledge and engagement with science. 

ÌÇÐÄ´«Ã½ professor is serving as a Fulbright Scholar at the Australian Institute for Machine Learning (AIML) at the University of Adelaide and is researching the potential use of open-source large language models in the unwitting generation of disinformation.

For ÌÇÐÄ´«Ã½, which leverages technology to expand access to underserved populations, artificial intelligence represents an exciting—and sometimes perplexing—new quantity. Approaching AI as a partner opens the door to a promising future.
